Vince McMahon is a man with a flare for the dramatic. That being said, he understands that comedy will always have its place in the WWE. Over the years, we as fans have been subject to various kinds of comedy on WWE programming. From fart and poop jokes to outrageous innuendo, we have seen many funny characters and segments on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown (and many not so funny). The fact is that a little levity goes a long way, the key word being “little”.
The current WWE Mid-Card is full of solely comedic characters. That wouldn’t be a problem if each of these comedy acts didn’t need entire segments in a show to coax a chuckle from the viewers. With eight mid-card comedy acts going (not to mention the comedic genius that is a John Cena or Miz promo *sarcasm*), I think it’s pretty plain to see that the WWE’s comedic quota has been met, and things are getting a little overcrowded. There just isn’t enough time in the week for all these characters to make us laugh.
Over the next two weeks I’m going to rank the WWE’s Comedy Acts from 8-1 (Today 8-5). The rankings are not only based on how funny they have been in the past but the potential for future hilarity and the performance ability of the characters involved. Let’s Do This!
