You hit on a lot of good points about Brett Favre and I have never really cared for the guy either until last part of this season. I think he should come back and play if he wants b/c the guy can still play QB at the NFL level and not just play, but at a Pro Bowl level. He threw 38 TD's and had 9 Int's this season. Those are his total numbers for the year. Those are great numbers no matter who you are.
My distaste for Favre has grown, but his performance this season was undeniable good. He proved worth the wait and money for the Vikings and if they could hold on to the ball he would be in the Super Bowl right now. The beating he took may disway him from returning, but his competitive drive should propel one last shot at making us all sicj of him one more time.
As a lifelong bleed purple fan... we want him back. I don't know if this is out there nationally, but several players are lobbying to let him play without having to do training camp. If the coaches allow this I have to imagine he will be back. Percy "Little Phenom" and Sid the Kid grew a lot with him here and they have a huge father/son like bond. "Needs to Retire" is the title of this debate and I can't imagine that being true. He just became the first QB to throw for over 30 tds and just 7 INTs in a season (38/9 counting playoffs). He showed he still has it. The beating he took would be the only reason he might want to retire... but he by no means "needs" to retire. If you work at a company for 19 years and you love it would you let other people decide whether you need to retire or not? Heck no. You can't argue the diva, drama queen, avoidance tactic stuff, and flip flopping he's done. That said, you can't say after his best year of a 19 year career that he "needs to retire." He's still capable, still loves it... it's his call. He has a year left under contract for 13 mil. I wouldn't doubt the Vikes even offer him more to stay in an uncapped year where we aren't allowed to sign free agents without losing free agents of equal value. TJack is a restricted Free Agent, Chester is a free agent, Griffin might start the year on PUP, Edwards may be gone, Pat Williams might retire... the window is closing here. If anything, the Vikings "need" him NOT to retire.
