After 4.5 looooong months, we finally have football. And in a hurry. Steelers report to St. Vincents College in Latrobe on Thursday and they have their first public practice on Friday and hit the pads on Sunday. I hope they have all been taking advantage of the off-season. It's going to be fast and furious over the next month or so.Already there's been a lot going on.  The Ravens have released 4 veterans, including TE Todd Heap - totally surprise to me on that one.  But Ozzie is good and I am sure he has a strategy to challenge our lovely Steelers and continue the Rivalry.  The Bengals need a QB and the Browns, well, are the Browns.Back at home, we are facing some challenges. First, the Steelers are over the cap. Second, the Steelers need to figure out what they are doing with Ike Taylor. Either sign him right away or let him go and if the latter is the choice, you better get those young folks running on those WRs ASAP because it's going to be a tough getting a young secondary up to speed. In fact, my stomach hurts just thinking about that option.  Especially after the weaknesses in the secondary exposed last year.  *cough Patriots game cough*If any of you took the time to read the details of the deal posted publicly today versus the deal that the NFL made public last night, I want to know what the differences were and quite frankly, I don't want to read I will trust all of you to comment, or tweet me, or FB me.For those of you heading to Latrobe on Friday, please send me some photos. This is the first time in a while where I will miss opening day of camp, but life happens. Can't make it. Perhaps Sunday. The good news for this week is that there is actually football, the bad news is that the Steelers are over the cap and need to sign Ike and/or Willie Colon (and figure out what to do with Woodley and Timmons too, I think) or cut them and move on.  That's the part of the pre-season I just don't like, so brace yourselves. It might hurt a little.  (I think Troy's contract is up next year as well)I leave you all with this: Baron Batch has got to be the sweetest human being on the face of the earth. Seriously. I love that kid. Read about him here and check out his work here.  No matter what happens with football, this kid is a complete success.well, welcome to football season!!
