Community
Like many in Steeler Nation, I Â believe in giving back to our communities – whether through financial contributions or volunteerism, it takes more than one person to make a community great.
Therefore, I urge everyone in Steeler Nation to get involved.
After watching my brother suffer through treatment for oral cancer this past year, I reached out to the University of Pittsburgh’s Cancer Institute where he was treated to see how I could leverage my public relations and marketing background to further help develop treatments for this quickly increasing cancer. Working with UPMC’s PR staff, we decided to launch a campaign to support Dr. Robert Ferris’ Tumor Micrenvironment and Virus Program. The research done through this program will help develop preventive and therapeutic options for people already exposed to the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and at risk for head, neck and oral cancers.
This football season, my goal is to raise $10,000 to support their research. Please consider donating. After you enter your name, please designate “other” and add Tumor Microenvironment and Virus Program as the designation for funds. Every donation is tax deductible and I appreciate the consideration, as will the thousands diagnosed with cancer due to HPV annually.
