Tonight marks a point in the Steelers season that says a lot about the team we are dealing with. Tonight will show, in many ways, whether the Steelers are the best team in the AFC. This has nothing to do with the Bengals and whether or not they are good. It has to do with the will to fight.
The Steelers lost to the Ravens – okay, it was a good game. Then they lost to the Saints in another good game. While I am disappointed, of course, you can’t win them all and the play in both those games was pretty respectable. The better team – at that time – won.
But tonight tells a story. A division game that means something. It tells the story of whether the Steelers are truly strong enough to overcome the troubles the franchise QB, hits and fines and backups etc etc etc. There were a lot of challenges to overcome and seemingly, they have. But like anything, actions speak louder than words.
I don’t want to be the naysayer here, but I want to be a realist. The team that has been hovering at the top of the power rankings would take a mighty tumble if there’s not a “W” in the column next to the Steelers at the end of this game.
Now we would all be happy if we could help add more to the “deconstruct” story of Batman and Robin. I like Ocho actually, but he should wait to launch his post-football career until he’s actually done with football. There’s something missing with this year’s Bengals, let’s just hope they don’t find it before the game tonight.
Overall, I think the Steelers are the more dominant team. The Steelers defense is performing at a high level especially against the run. Tonight, despite my earlier comments, I am picking the Steelers.
My guess: Steelers 28 Bengals 14.
What say you?
