Headed to the House or the Couch? Steelers vs. Browns

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns

We’re down to this:If the Steelers lose tonight, there is no chance for any post-season play, nor should there be.

If the Steelers lose tonight, making them 6-7, they do not deserve to be in the playoffs with the “best of the best.”  That’s mediocrity AT BEST.  In fact, at 6-6, this is the longest losing streak since 2003.  In other words, Steelers, 6-6 ain’t so special.  Now, get it together and show a win-out for the rest of the regular season and then we’ll have something to wave our terrible towels about.

The Browns will likely follow the rest of the “unlikely” winners game plans against the Steelers.  They will throw the ball, exposing the secondary.  Already, we’re down Will Gay (at least he probably shouldn’t play) after he received a concussion in the game last week against the Raiders.  While the Browns offense (and defense too) ranks dead last statistically, Brady Quinn should still throw the ball.  Especially since the Steelers run defense is ranked at the top of the league.  They have only allowed an average of 77 yards rushing and so if I were Mangini, which thankfully I am not, I would throw the ball all day long.

That said, Ike, et al, better be ready tonight.  This time, either head to the house or sit on the couch.  Because this game all but determines whether the Steelers touch the field following the January 3rd game against Miami.

Another key point in this game, don’t kick to Joshua Cribbs.  I mean, keep the ball away from him OR be ready to tackle him.  His 98 yard kick off return to the House started the streak of returns against the Steelers special teams unit.  Four in five games to be exact.  Not good.

The Steelers on the other hand, should run the ball all day long.  Let Rashard do what we pay him to do.  The Browns also rank last in defense and can’t stop the run.  Therefore, why not let Rashard own the ball.  And can we not always run him up the gut please, at least if you are going to run it, mix it up a little (Air it out Arians).

Bottom line, this is it Steelers.  You need to get it together and play tough.

I will be here, waving my terrible towel and all, but I would like to enjoy playoff season and not just as a regular old spectator.  Kthxbai. <3 SG
