Focus on the Future: Play Dixon

by SG on November 23, 2009

Carolina Panthers v Pittsburgh Steelers

So here we are, less than a week before the Steelers play the Ravens on Sunday night and we don’t know who will be leading the team at QB.  Ben’s likely got a concussion and somehow Charlie busted up his wrist.  There’s been talk about bringing Jeff Garcia in, lots of people wish Byron Leftwich was back (me too kinda) and obviously everyone is talking about everyone EXCEPT the quarterback we already have on the roster – Dennis Dixon.  I’m not saying to not go out and look for some depth, but why not play Dixon.  Afterall, Ben got his chance when Tommy Maddox got hurt in week 3 of the 2004 season. His rookie season.

How will we ever know if the kid has what it takes if we don’t play him?  I mean, this is a kid who likely would have won a Heisman if injury hadn’t hit him his final year in college.  Remember, he was leading the Heisman battle. Let’s give the kid a chance. If we lose to the Ravens so be it, at least we know what we’re working with.

Let’s play Dixon and see what the future has in store.

Oh and run the  ball please.  Thank you.

Run it. A lot.

Rashard, be ready for Sunday.

I’m still looking for an energy drink sponsor for the Steelers – it should also have healing qualities (*ahem* Troy).

I’m thinking about revoking YOUR rights. I would be a fine Steelers blogger.
