Bring your terrible towel day "Hey Dan iilii"

96630485_Steelers_v_RedskinsSo, word on the street is that Big Dan – in fear of SteelerNation taking over the lovely FedEx field, especially in pre-season when Redskins fans will pass on attneding – is going to be giving away the Redskins version of the towel.  Now, I find that just a little crazy.

So Steeler Nation, bring your terrible towel, in fact bring two – wave them high and proud but know there will be Redskins fans in the crowd who won’t like it.  Unfortunately they still believe in the dream. A dream that won’t come true with Dan Snyder at the helm.  Maybe I “don’t have a vote” as @darrellgreen28 said to me on twitter the other day when discussing Redskins ownership.  Regardless, here’s my memo to Dan:

Dear Dan:

  • It’s preseason, the game doesn’t even count, yet you are spending money on towel giveaways? *pictures Dan rubbing little grimy hands together and exerting evil little laugh*.
  • Your team still sucks because you meddle too much and don’t know football as well as you think you do (Read: hire someone who does and stand back dude).
  • Your fans sell tickets to our fans because since you have owned the team you have done nothing but screw them and then turn around and say, “It’s my team, &%$# off, I will do what I want, I make $$$$.” (okay, maybe that’s not a true quote, but I bet it is what you are thinking.

When you treat your team, its fans and the city with respect, you create a dynasty, Dan.  Do you know Mr. Rooney? I know you do….yeah, I know he’s in Ireland, but hey, call up Art and ask him what the qualities of a winning team and great ownership look like.  I think he would share.  What’s sad is for the last 10 years I have lived in DC, you still have fans who want to believe that you are not all about the money, who believe that you have the best interest if the team at heart and you still screw them.

If I were a Redskins fan, I wouldn’t buy one single jersey this year.  I actually don’t even want to give you money tonight, but I will want a beer, so there you have it.

Being a transplant “Washingtonian” I do have Redskins empathy.  I feel bad for the fans.

One anonymous Redskins fan has created this blog site. Maybe Dan will listen?

(looks like blogger hasn’t updated in a while…BUT, Dan is still a douche.)

I think we should be nice to Redskins fans today (as long as they are nice back) because it’s really not their fault their team sucks.  They feel screwed and will likely want to take it out on someone.  Hopefully they will understand that we just love our team and our team loves us back.

Go Steelers!

I agree. Unfortunately, Dan will have to learn like Peter Angelos of the Orioles-owners own; don’t mess with the fan base and leave decisions about the game to people who know what they are doing. Angelos may have finally gotten the message if not the results as yet; who knows if Dan ever will?

And I’m still a bit salty that he hung Jason Campbell out to dry all off-season while looking (lusting?) for any quarterback to take his place. Did Snyder ever think that maybe if they got some better linemen and gave Campbell a few years in the same offensive system, that maybe he could be the quarterback he so covets? Just sayin’…and it’s not even my team!

Everything you said is true and makes me happy. Watching Skins fans suffer brings me great joy. My only hope is that one day Danny boy buys the Steelers. A boy can dream can’t he?

  3. Steelergurl:

@Mindpinball you are always so thoughtful in comments and absolutely right. Dan is just such an egomaniac, he will probably not listen.

@lee i wish bad karma on you, except in business, that is all. :P

LMAOOOOO at the Danny is a douche blog that is classic. But I agree. I would feel bad for them… but I don’t… DC people think they always better than us B-More folk anyway, so the fact that we have a better franchise than they do, makes me tingly and warm inside
