Five games and penalty free

In the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Hines Ward said:

“I can’t say enough about our team. We fought hard all year to this point. We still have a lot of room for improvement. We left a lot of plays out there on the field, but all in all, it’s all about wins and losses. And we’re 8-3 right now.”

I’ll agree with lots of room for improvement.  How about a penalty free game??  In the NFL there’s plenty of talent.  It’s typically not a lack of talent that loses a game, it’s penalties and clock management.  In the game against the Chargers there were 13 or 14 penalites resulting in more than 100 yards charged to the Steelers.  Luckily, they still won the game.  But the lesson is that you can’t play like that against teams like the Patriots or Dallas…or even the Ravens.  Sure, we’ve got the second best record in the AFC…but it’s gonna take focus and serious attention to detail to pull out all the wins before the playoffs start.

No one is unbeatable.  Even Tennessee with their undefeated record is still beatable.  If our defense shuts down their running game and we put pressure on the pass, we can do it.  The question is, can our offense make up the difference to actually put it in the won column.

If they are penalty free.  No holding.  No nothing.  And Ben passes like the champ he is….we got it.

I’m going to say here now, I think we can beat Tennessee, and the Patriots and Dallas.

See you in post-season play.
