Things I just don’t do:
1. Bet on my team.
2. Play Fantasy Football
3. Watch football in a bar
Why? Â Well, as all my friends would attest, I like to seriously *watch* the game. Â In a bar, people are talking, screaming, in your face, asking questions, taking up space, whatever. Â I want to be at home. Preferably in a room by myself and watch every single play yard by yard. Â It’s just my thing.
I watched two games “out” this year-when the Steelers played the Skins and the Superbowl. Â The latter only because I was promised a front row seat in the room with the 52″. I am not sure they took me seriously until I got there and plopped down right up front. Â I take football seriously.
I don’t bet on my team because it just feels weird. Â Not that I have doubts, but I don’t want any outside influences determining how I feel in any given moment. Â Watching the Steelers, in no uncertain terms, is real business to me. Â During the season, I wait all week for Sunday. Â I actually go through periods of withdrawal during the week. Â I absolutely work my weekend schedule around the Steelers. Â If it’s a 1pm game, don’t talk to me until 5pm. Â If it’s a 4pm game, don’t even think about me doing anything after 3pm. Â In fact, my ideal Sunday is waking up around 7, working for an hour or two, watching the local news then Chris Matthews and Meet the Press followed by Fox game day analysis. Â I don’t really want to do anything on Sunday but watch football. Â I also watch all games with the teams the Steelers face on any given schedule.Â
I am true football chick. Â And look if you’re my man, you better like football or just learn to not talk to me on Sunday. Â I’d be lying if I said it hadn’t caused problems in the past – this little football obsession.
I don’t play fantasy football for all the above reasons. Â In fantasy, you have players from all over the place. I will not cheer agaist the Steelers because I have a fantasy player on an opposing team and need to win. Â Just can’t do it. Â I also don’t like to lose money. Â Add all of that in there and it’s just bad karma overall.
So, hypothetically speaking @jaykeith and @soxfan24, I will wager that my Steelers once again whoop your Pats, but this is hypothetical and not anywhere near a real live wager.
BY the way, Brady’s back. Â Can you tell? Â Pats fans crawling out of woodwork. Â Are we in Dallas??
